iainlines Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 Hi, I think I may have asked something similar before so forgive me for being a chump....when 3D modelling I often move the UCS around but my problem at the moment is it is not following in each view on screen ( I have top, front and an iso). So basically I am left with 3 UCS positions, not what I want. I thought this had something to do with Dynamic UCS but it doesn't seem to make the required difference Thanks in advance Iain Quote
Dadgad Posted July 5, 2012 Posted July 5, 2012 If you are navigating views with your viewcube the UCS will not be changed moving from one view to another. If you use your VIEW command or the VIEW toolbar, or panel on the ribbon, then each time you select a new view the UCS will be changed to suit your view, sort of like setting your UCSFOLLOW to 1. To restore WCS I just go back to TOP view. Quote
iainlines Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Once again, forgive my ignorance..... I am using 2007 so do not have the viewcube. All I want is for the UCS to move in all view when I move it. At present I have three separate UCS Quote
iainlines Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 I should say that the UCS all work as three separate positions. Hope this makes sense Quote
iainlines Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Drawing.... As you can see in the iso view the UCS has move to where I have poitioned it, not so in the other views. I know this is probably something simple New heat shield cover.dwg Quote

I know this is probably something simple I did not understand from your earlier posts that you were talking about modelspace viewports. The UCS in all of these viewports is the same, in relation to the solid displayed therein. It is WCS, and it is locked by your UCSVP system variable setting. For me that is how I like it. Check the description in the attachment of the UCSVP system variable setting options. When looking down in TOP view you see PLAN view, showing your X & Y axii, as expected. Looking from FRONT view you now see the Z & X axii displayed. When looking at the ISO view you can see that the X & Y planes still represent the ground plane, and that the Z axis represents the height of your structure, as in both of the other views. They are all displaying the exact same UCS from 3 different perspectives, but the UCS is locked and maintained in each viewport. Quote
iainlines Posted July 5, 2012 Author Posted July 5, 2012 Thanks Dadgad, you're a diamond! Not too familiar with the system variables so that really helped Iain Quote
