Showing vertical pipes in floor plan

Hi all,

 

Very noob question but on a floorplan, how would you represent pipes coming down vertically?

 

I am drawing out our air compressor and trying to show the drops for the piping on the manufacturing lines in a seperate room.

PS: AutoCAD MEP automatically does this for you if you are using AEC Objects.

Another quick noob question: what is AEC?

 

Here is a picture of what I did, I used ducts for just about everything but I want to do it over and right this time around. On the blue region (the trench) I want to show that as the pipe crosses it, it comes down vertically, I did this somewhat by trying to make it look orthogonal.

Also, for some reason I can't open up the file Styk, I'm going to try again on my main computer.

Ah, so you are in fact using AEC Objects. Anything that is considered an "AutoCAD MEP specific object" is an AEC Object. What you'll want to do is start focusing on changing the Display Representation to a single line View.

Just got able to open your drawing, this makes a lot more sense, So I should draw this in schematic mode?

 

I started initially with just lines but the maintenance manager said nobody aside from him would understand it, since it was to be presented to finance.
