ittayd Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 How can I draw tiles in a specific rectangle? Say I have a rectangle of 10x20. I have tiles of 3x8. I want to fill the rectangle from bottom left with the tiles so they crop at the edges of the rectangle. Quote
ReMark Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 That's 10 ft. x 20 ft. right? Have you looked into using the ARRAY command? Quote
ittayd Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 I actually meant metric. Will the array command crop the tiles? Quote
DODGE Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 How can I draw tiles in a specific rectangle? Say I have a rectangle of 10x20. I have tiles of 3x8. I want to fill the rectangle from bottom left with the tiles so they crop at the edges of the rectangle. I use tiles a fair bit with bathrooms etc. Just use hatch, find something you like and then just try diff scales. You can just draw a quick rectangle and hatch that with diff scales untill you get what you want. D Quote
ReMark Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Crop? Depends on what version of AutoCAD you are running. Quote
eldon Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I think the best way is to create your own hatch pattern. Have a look at the existing pattern NET, and put in your own dimensions. Quote
Pablo Ferral Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Or you could create a dynamic block, or you could use the new dynamic array. Both of these can be trimmed to the outline of the room using the 'XCLIP' command... Quote
eldon Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Having re-read the original request (found my glasses), I see the requirement is to start at the bottom left hand corner. Here is an amended picture. Silly me, I always think of equal edge cuts when tiles are mentioned. Quote
CyberAngel Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 If it were me, I'd create a hatch pattern based on NET, as Eldon suggested, with the appropriate scale. I'd also set the origin of my hatch at the bottom left corner. Quote
