Frits Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 Autocad LT doesn't seem to recongnize the NVIDIA QUADRO 600. I've updated the NVIDIA drivers and the AUTOCAD performance driver. I've reinstalled Autocad. Nothing seems to help. I can put hardware-acceleration on, but it doesn't seem to do much (see below!). Your help is very welcome:(, many thanks in advance:) Performance Tuner Results Log Version: 19.0.1.00 Date of Last Tune: 12-5-2012 Machine Configuration --------------------- Processor Speed : 3.3 GHz RAM : 4054 MB 3D Device --------- Name : NVIDIA Quadro 600 Manufacturer : NVIDIA Chip set : Quadro 600 Memory : 2749 MB Driver : 8.17.0012.9670 Your machine contains a 3D Device that is not certified. Blackfish Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 What kind of 3D acceleration do you expected with AutoCAD LT? Quote
Frits Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 'What kind of 3D acceleration do you expected with AutoCAD LT?' I expected that for the showed items HARDWARE ACCELERATION would be available. If not: what does Hardware Acceleration do in Autocad LT 2012??? Quote
Blackfish Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Have you check it on Autodesk webpage? http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/syscert/card?siteID=123112&catID=18254205&id=18844534&product=13&os=1&hw=124 It looks like there are only five items, which are supported: Smooth Display Per-Pixel Lighting Gooch hardware Shader Texture Compression Advanced Material Effect and my point was that all of them are rather 3D features than 2D (AutoCAD LT). Frits Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 They are rather 3D features than 2D indeed, but why does Autocad say: 'Your machine contains a 3D Device that is not certified.' ??? Quote
Frits Posted May 13, 2012 Author Posted May 13, 2012 @ Blackfish 'Downgrading' the NVIDIA driver did the trick! My machine contains now a certified 3D Device with a driver version that is certified!!! Thanks for your help anyway! (You were right about it that most of the futures aren't applicable anyway.) nestly Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Your machine contains a 3D Device that is not certified. That line means absolutely nothing in terms of actual performance, it only means that Autodesk has not yet tested that particular driver. Their use of the word "device" is misleading at best, because that line does not refer to the video card, it refers to the software driver. Autodesk is notoriously slow at "certifying" new drivers, so I put ZERO weight in whether a driver is on their list or not. I'm not running "Certified" drivers on any of my Quadro/FirePro machines because they're not the "best" drivers for the card.... nor for AutoCAD. Quote
Dadgad Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Your machine contains a 3D Device that is not certified. Welcome to the forum. Anticipate significantly LESS THAN STELLAR 3D performance, from your 2D software. Go figure? Quote
Frits Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 @Nestly Thanks for your remarks! So actually, what you suggest is: Upgrading to the latest NVIDIA driver and don't bother about certifying issues with Autocad, because it does not have any influence on the actual performance. Are you 100% sure about the latter? Thanks in advance. Quote

nestly Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 @Nestly Are you 100% sure about the latter? Yes. Certified only means they've tested it. I would lay good money that Autodesk has never tested a Quadro driver that they didn't subsequently "Certify" ..... they're just VERY SLOW at testing new drivers, as they are with patching known bugs in their own code.... Frits Posted May 14, 2012 Author Posted May 14, 2012 All right, thanks! I will start upgrading the NVIDIA driver again and neglect the remarks on certifying by Autocad. Thanks again and have a nice day. Quote
