PALynch30 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Ok. Yes those voids are intentional. Can solid be created and those voids still be in tact? Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I pretty sure they could. What is this object supposed to be? Upon closer inspection I see a couple of pieces of your geometry that don't quite fit right. Over on the left side for example the front vertical surface does not match up with the bottom surface exactly. Do you have any dimensions you can share with us? Quote
PALynch30 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Honestly, I have no clue! A friend on mine said he had this invention he thought of and gave me a rough sketch. I didn't ask, I just told him I would try to help and if he made it big he had to buy me a car! I'm just trying to figure out how to take all those misc surfaces and combine them into a solid. Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Give us all the angles and dimensions you were working with. See my previous post too. Quote
PALynch30 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Sorry I didn't read your entire post. I am uploading another dwg Quote
PALynch30 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Hopefully this will help a little. All the dimensions were just roughed in and are not exact. I had a real problem trying to extrude the surface and get the gradual slope from back to front. Not an expert but I think this was a pretty challenging object to start with..... ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Well there are some differences between what you have constructed in the first posted drawing and what is called for in the second. Things don't match up exactly. Example: the height at the back should be 3/4" but it is slightly less and this is at what should be the high point of the object. Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 OK. Here is your base object done as a solid. Now we need to create the voids. Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I will defer to Titi95. I'm sure he'll provide you with a good explanation. Well that is odd indeed. I thought he posted a reply with an attachment called Plan.zip which included the solid plus a STL file but when I just checked the post was gone. I ask him to reconsider posting the file. Why? Because my method was in all probability not the best and most accurate way of creating the object. I don't normally work with surfaces nor do I create such objects in my normal day-to-day work so I defer to the real experts. I am not one of those. Titi95. I left you a visitor message. Quote
PALynch30 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 WOW!! That looks fantastic! Could you send me the dwg file? Also, is there a way for me to figure out the step you took to get to this point? Quote
Titi95 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 my message has disappeared ... here is the file eb solid and slt Plan.zip Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I'd like to see if Titi95 responds with what he did first. But thanks for the "WOW". It's much appreciated. Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 my message has disappeared ... here is the file eb solid and slt Nothing appears to be attached. Quote
PALynch30 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 I downloaded the files, but am not at my computer right now. Thanks for the help, I am sure I will ask you other questions real soon. Quote
Titi95 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 it gives ca it is strange that my messages disappear when I modified ... Quote
ReMark Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 Well maybe you can give the folks here a brief explanation of what you did to achieve the results. Quote
PALynch30 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 The file will not work for me either..... Quote
