JamFam Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I am using AutoCAd Architecture 2011. I want to draw a 3d box to a specific dimension while I'm drawing it, much like drawing a rectangle. After selecting the box command my command line reads as follows: First Corner or [sHape]: Second Corner or [sHape/Undo]: Height or [sHape/Undo]: I don't know how to draw my box to the exact dimensions while I'm drawing without having to go into the properties box after I draw the box . Can anyone help? Thanks Quote
Dadgad Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Just specify your first point either by clicking or direct coordinate entry, instead of SHAPE and turn on your DYNAMIC INPUT. Quote
JamFam Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 Hi there Dadgad. I did as you have suggested with the same unsatisfying result. Any more suggestions? Thanks Quote
Dadgad Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I'm sorry to ask, as I take your response to mean that you have, but you did turn on DYNAMIC INPUT before starting the command? Have your DYNAMIC INPUT preferences been set in the DRAFTING SETTINGS? Quote

As you can see, I have turned DYN but the problem remains. Please see attachment for my DYN settings. Cheers Quote
Dadgad Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Try setting your pointer input settings for second or next points format default to CARTESIAN FORMAT. Quote
pattyandme Posted May 9, 2012 Posted May 9, 2012 type the dimentions into the command line seperated by a comma. for instance a 3d box in [front top or side view] 1st set the grid posistion of the cornor of the box. I usualy set it a 0,0,0 and move it to where i need it. i know where to find it then. once the 1st cornor is set by click box icon and then type in the command line 0,0,0 enter // to set your starting point for your box now you have a cornor started and the box is moving around getting larger and smaller wiht the mouse as long as you dont click the mouse and end the input nest while the box input is still taking input type 24",48",3' enter [type the width, the height and the depth] image the 1st number is positive so it will draw center to right as 0 is center screen the 2nd number is positive so it will be center to top the 3rd number is positive so it will be center to back [you wont see this untill you view at sw.....
