halfcracked Posted October 28, 2008 Posted October 28, 2008 Is there any way to turn off the automatic trim "feature" when offsetting polylines? I need to draw centerline & tire paths for trucks in a parking area, my problem is any time they cross themselves they get trimmed. These are complex paths with arcs & lines trying to achieve a smooth path. I lay down the centerline & I should be able to simply offset to get the tire path. What I wind up with looks more like a multiline wall cleanup than crossing paths. Quote
BIGAL Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Just a comment Sorry to disappoint you but trucks dont track parallel we check turning movements all the time cars trucks semis double "b's". Be careful just drawing inner and outer lines the trailer can cut the corner by huge amounts. We use "Autoturn" to check Truck-Model.pdf Quote
halfcracked Posted October 29, 2008 Author Posted October 29, 2008 Thanks for the comment but I simplified the image to clarify, while the front tires & the back tires won't run "parallel" Physics says that each pair of tires must run parallel. I know about AutoTurn - my firm just can't afford it to check things 2-3 times a year. It's a resource I wish I had - sigh... I use a lisp routine "turn" that will draw the back axle centerline track starting with a polyline centerline track for the front axle. Then I offset to get each tire track. It should be close. I just fun into problems if the truck crosses over its own path. The auto trim makes something that should be easy into a complex redraw operation. especially since the "turn" lisp routine makes very segmented polylines. Quote
