JJuno Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 In model space the layout is perfect but when viewed in a paper space viewport the graphics overlap or are jumbled. There is a discrepancy between what I see in model space and what is displayed in a viewport. I can enter the model space through the viewport and move the graphics to align them correctly but then the model space graphics are jumbled. Why is this happening? Quote
Dadgad Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Welcome to the forum. The UCS of your viewport is different than the UCS of your modelspace (which is probably WORLD). Because your graphics are in modelspace you must consider where they are in relationship to the other elements of your drawing. You might want to use the FLATTEN command to zero out any errant Z elevation values in modelspace. If you want everything to look just as it does in your modelspace you will need to set the UCS in your viewport to match the UCS of your modelspace, after which you can scale it to suit the size of your viewport. JD Mather Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Can you attach the dwg file here that exhibits this behavior? Quote
JJuno Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 I'm not sure what worked but after flattening and setting UCS and elevation to 0 both views look the same. Thanks. Quote
Dadgad Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 You're welcome, glad it worked out. Often people who typically work in 2D are somewhat oblivious to the Z axis. When viewed in plan one cannot read elevations along the Z axis, but from any other perspective, with the exception of Bottom view, you will. It might be helpful to set your OBJECT SNAP OPTIONS on the DRAFTING tab of your OPTIONS 'to replace Z value with current elevation'. This will help to create drawings on one plane. An easier way to do the same thing is to enter OSNAPZ at your commandline, and change the setting from 0 to 1. The FLATTEN command is a good one to use before saving a completed drawing, as are PURGE and AUDIT. Quote
