blix_36 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Hello, I'm having issues with making a solid diffuser for a propeller system. The issue is I have a specific airfoil shape I'm using and I've drawn that hoping I'd have just been able to sweet it. Alas, I get the error that I cannot sweep a closed loop, or something similar to that. I've exploded it and that allowed me to sweep it, but then it's not a solid and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to be a solid. I've attached a picture of the airfoil shape and the way it looks when it's swept so that you can have the general idea of what I'm trying to do. Any help would be much appreciated. Quote
ReMark Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Post a copy of the drawing file so we can have a chance to experiment with it ourselves. Quote
JD Mather Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Wouldn't that be a simple Revolve rather than a Sweep? Quote
blix_36 Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 I did try using revolve and it also came up with the error about using closed curves in all but a couple of orientations. Here's both the shroud that I swept along with just the profile of the airfoil shape. I'm trying to make the inner closest point have a diameter of 5.1 meters. Any help or recommendations is very much appreciated. Shroud1.dwg Shroud.dwg Quote
JD Mather Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) Uhmm, your 2d profile geometry crosses over at the "point". Fix that obvious problem and it Revolves as a solid with no trouble. Edit: Well it has been a couple of hours now. Did you find the problem? Edited April 12, 2012 by JD Mather Quote
blix_36 Posted April 12, 2012 Author Posted April 12, 2012 Thank you very much for your help. I had not noticed that point before. It's working perfectly now. Your help has been much appreciated. Quote
