What would the be the best way to create a square counterbored hole in the center of this solid object.

Thanks for any suggestions

I've been trying to subtract a solid cube from the hole using Subtract but I can't seem to get it to work.

Any help?

Close. I want the top of the square counterbore to start at the top of the smaller diameter hole. In other words I want to counterbore the smaller diameter hole. Hope this makes sense.

It is just a matter of placing the cube you want to subtract. I didn't have any problem doing it.

What exactly is the problem you are having?

It seems to just add the cube to the object. It doesn't seem to actually subtract it.

I just got it. What I was seeing was the original copy of the object.

Here you have it. You had 2 spools on top of each other. That's why it seem to be adding the cube. I removed one spool and then it all worked fine.

Now I need to chamfer the edges of the square counterbore.
