Wievior Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum and new to AutoCAD in general. Trying to create an insulation batting line (15 centimeters wide), in the model it looks okay (actually it goes a tiny little bit beyond the borders, but it is good enough for me at this stage). In the viewports however it is much wider (I would say, it is 10-15 times wider than expected). I've googled the problem (that's how I stumbled upon this forum) and found out that I'm not the only one having difficulties grasping the batting line thing. My setup: LTSCALE - 1.0 CELTSCALE - 1.0 MSLTSCALE - 1.0 I do realize that it probably a silly thing that I'm missing, but I can't seem to figure it out. Not sure what else can be wrong, any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote
nestly Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I expect that your Viewport probably does not have the same scale (CELTSCALE) as Modelspace. Try changing the VP scale and regenerating the drawing (REGEN) Is PSLTSCALE also 1? Quote
Wievior Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 I expect that your Viewport probably does not have the same scale (CELTSCALE) as Modelspace. How do I go about checking if it's true? I've used the command CELTSCALE in both viewport and modelspace, also the MSLTSCALE is 1.0. Try changing the VP scale and regenerating the drawing (REGEN) Tried it, doesn't change. Is PSLTSCALE also 1? Yes sir. Can I link to a DWG file here ? Quote
nestly Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Sorry, I mis-spoke in my previous post. I meant to have you compare the CANNOSCALE for MS and the PS viewport, not CELTSCALE. CANNOSCALE is whatever scale is displayed in the Scale box on the statue bar. Can I link to a DWG file here ? You can upload a drawing (under 500K) by using the "Go Advanced" button under the quick reply window, then using the "Manage Attachments" button on that page. Quote
Wievior Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 1.dwg That's what I've created, if You would be so kind to take a look, it would be greatly appreciated. Quote
nestly Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I don't use any batting linetypes, so I don't know how linetypes that extend "above/below" the centerline are normally handled, but what is happening is that you've created the linetype to display properly at 1:1 scale, but your viewport is 1:10 so AutoCAD is automatically scaling it by 10x. Hopefully someone that uses batting will reply, but I think you're pretty much limited to either disabling PSLTSCALE, which will mess up other linetypes in scaled viewports, or applying a linetype scale override to each batting line, but again, the batting will still only display properly at one scale. Wievior Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 Thanks for the reply, I get it now, pretty disappointing I must admit. I think I'm going to go with a custom hatch, from the start it seemed like an easier option. Again - much thanks for Your time. Quote
nestly Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I think you'll run into a similar scaling problem with a regular hatch, but you should be good if you make it Annotative. Quote
samchums26 Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Go to format, linetype manager then change the global scale factor to .07 then ok. Quote
Wievior Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Thanks for the input samchums26, it does not help unfortunately. When I set it to .1 it looks good in the 1:10 viewport, is way too small in the model and also looks bad in the 1:50 viewport. Decided to go with a hatch, for now at least. But it seems like a good way to go, simple and clean :] Quote
