cfrydawg
is there a way to only show hidden lines on a shaft with a hole in it to only show quadrens instead of 30 lines around the arc.
Denimoth
Set your DISPSILH variable to 0. It should help remove those unnecessary lines.

Denimoth
This is going to sound like a stupid question, but is your shaft made from an actual extruded circle? It appears your plan view shows the profile as more of a hexagonal shape. I realize this could be due to a number of things, such as not having done a regen before taking your screenshot, or other factors. But I'm seeing (barely) a bunch of other hidden lines that lead me to think your shaft isn't round.
cfrydawg
Yes it is all round
Denimoth
Is it possible for you to attach your DWG file here? It might help us figure out what's going on.
ReMark
AutoCAD settings that affect 3D output. DISPSILH – Display Sihouette This setting affects the results of the Hide command. A setting of 0 displays tessellation lines. A setting of 1 suppresses tessellation lines. FACETRATIO – Quality of Rendered & Shaded Models This setting affects mesh density thus controlling the aspect ratio of faceting for cylindrical and conic solids. The settings are 0 and 1. A setting of 1 will increase the density of the mesh. FACETRES – Rendered Object Smoothness This setting affects both rendering and hide results. The default setting is 0.5. The max setting is 10. A lower setting results in a quicker render time but rounded edges will appear as a series of straight segments. A higher setting results in a longer render time but rounded edges will appear much smoother. ISOLINES – Contour lines per surface This setting affects the wireframe view but not the Hide or Render commands. Settings can range from 0 to 2047. The default setting is 4. SPLINESEGS – Segments in a Polyline Curve This setting controls the number of segments in a polyline curve. The settings range from 0 to 32767 with the default being 8. The higher the setting the smoother the appearance is of a rendered curve.
