ReMark Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Hi.Can you help me with a simple one? A square roof and 4 equal faces. Thanks. Is this a gabled roof? You'll have to post an image or a DWG file so we know exactly what we are talking about. Quote
Casusa Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Hi. Here is a dwg, i think i've atatched him right. ROOF.dwg Quote
topcadexperts Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Hi.Can you help me with a simple one? A square roof and 4 equal faces. Thanks. Hi Casusa, Try this step by step http://topcadexperts.net/blog/2009/05/17/hip-tip-3d-roof-in-autocad-20042010/ The only diference is that the 2D shape is a square (better saying a rectangle). Quote
ReMark Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 It would certainly be most helpful if you could tell us what kind of pitch you had in mind too. Just curious. I get dimensions on your rectangle of 3x4. That's meters? Are you creating this roof as a solid or a surface? Quote
Casusa Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Hi. Yes 3x4 meters, is simple concrete roof, and the idea is doing it as a solid. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Here is one way to give the appearance of a roof. Created using the 3DPolyline and Region commands. Shown using the Conceptual visual style. Roof at peak is 2 units high (using your base drawing). Quote
ReMark Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Hi. Yes 3x4 meters, is simple concrete roof, and the idea is doing it as a solid. Thanks A roof like this in concrete? Really? Quote
ReMark Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I'd like to see your solution plus I'd like to know how you are supporting the roof. Quote
SLW210 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 You could also _LOFT the base to a POINT. Quote
topcadexperts Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Yeah. Tahnks. It solved. Hi Casusa, I would like to learn from you if you have seen my Hip Tip. Cheers Quote
ReMark Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I think he came here, got what he needed and won't be back until the next problem comes to light. Quote

Dana W Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Well, at any rate, a roof 3x4 meters absolutely will NOT have 4 equal faces, so maybe the OP will get a "C" on your homework. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Well, at any rate, a roof 3x4 meters absolutely will NOT have 4 equal faces, so maybe the OP will get a "C" on your homework. You noticed that too, huh? Even in a backwards place like Arkansas, 3 does not equal 4. Didn't they build roofs like this a few thousand years ago in Egypt? Quote
Casusa Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 A roof like this in concrete? Really? Sorry, beams and bricks. Thanks again. Quote
Casusa Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Hi Casusa, I would like to learn from you if you have seen my Hip Tip. Cheers Yes i did solve the problem using your tip. Thanks again. Quote
Casusa Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 I moved this question to its own thread, since it was actually not related to the other thread. Please start new threads when you have a question. Sorry my mistake. I nedd more help with another roof, this one more complex. This one is with beams and tiles, with an aproximate of 15% inclination for the tow master slopes confine in a vertex. May i leave the dwg here to get some help how to 3D him or is better to open another topic? Thanks ROOF.dwg Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Sorry, beams and bricks. Thanks again. Bricks for roofing? That's even more interesting than concrete. Is this a real project or something you're doing for school or fun? If it's real, and it gets built, take a pic and send it to me. I'd like to see that. Would certainly be different. Quote
