dannywi77iams Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Hi All I'm having a problem with Zoom Extent on a poticular drawing. when zooming normally with the scroll wheel it will work with no problems at all. When I do a Zoom Extents everything in the Model window disapears even the viewcube and small tool bar and minimize and close buttons. but if i go to where the minimzie and close is and click my mouse picks up the command. If i do a undo i get everything back. Before Zoom Extents After Zoom Extents Would this be a system varible or a driver issue. it only seems to do it with this drawing and when this drawing is Xref'ed into another drawing. I have purged, audit and checked scales. but i'm still getting this problem. Any help would be appriciated Quote
Dadgad Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Can you post this drawing? Perhaps you have a missing XREF, and you will find its name out at the perimeter of your zoomed extents modelspace. Or some other very small object, flotsam or archival (on a frozen layer perhaps?) which you are not seeing. Try changing your visualstyle to conceptual, and perhaps you will be able to see it against a lighter background. Quote
MSasu Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 It may be from the fact that you had a parasite entity somewhere very far from the drawn area. Try to move the drawn area into a new drawing and see what remain in the original drawing and where is located. Regards, Mircea Quote
dannywi77iams Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 I can't post the drawing as it goverment property. But i'm just going though the Xrefs now to find out if any are missing. what i have noticed is that some lines in the drawing are ghosted (not as bright as others) would these be something to do with it. Dadgad Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Just enter XREF at the commandline, and check to see if any were unfound. Quote
dannywi77iams Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 I've sorted it out. I cleaned all the Xref'ed drawings associated with the problem drawing. then opened a new drawing xref'ed the problem drawing in to it. blind the drawing to then explode it. use the blue selection to select the drawing and paste it in to a new drawing. I think this sounds like a long and winded way to do this, but has I'm creating As built drawings I only need the lastest model for architech background. If anyone can advise in any other way to do this. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 You may have some sort of drawing object way out away from the main part of the drawing. zoom back with the scroll wheel till you can see all of the drawing thats supposed to be there, then enter the erase command. then enter "all" and note how many objects if finds. Then hold down the shift key, window around the drawing that should be there and see how many objects is finds. Chances are you'll have a different number. Complete the erase command, then do a zoom extents and see what happens. If there are any extraneous objects they should be gone now. Quote
dannywi77iams Posted February 15, 2012 Author Posted February 15, 2012 But as you can see from the picture after zoom extents has been activated the window displays nothing. not even the viewcube. It's as if the graphics run out of memory and ca't regenerate the window. after cleaning the drawing it seem as if there is something conficting with something. Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Ok, well, then try this...zoom out as I suggested in my original post. Window the objects that should be in the drawing and copy them to the clipboard. then open a new drawing and paste them in. I know you said you xref'd and all that already, but try this and see if it cures your problem. No xrefs, underlays or any of that, just the geometry. I'd bet there's something hinkey going on that has to do with the xref. Quote
nestly Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 In the 2nd screencap there are two REGEN's following zoom_e. Mine doesn't regen even on very large drawings with multiple xrefs. I think there's a variable to control zoom regens, but it eludes me at the moment. Quote
