Runnen Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 I'm new to the program and am wondering how I would go about modeling something as simple as a yoyo. I've heard all I have to do is draw---with the line tool---half of the yoyo and then project that around an axis. If you would agree with this then could you explain how I would go about doing that? I would prefer doing it this way because I could make the shape of the yoyo more complex without having to do extra unnecessary work. If it is prudent that I go about this a different way then it would greatly help me if you could explain how and why it should be done this way. All help is greatly appreciated! Thanks you for reading. EDIT: Sorry I had not noticed this was the wrong section. Could a moderator please move this to the correct area? Quote
Cad64 Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Welcome to the forum Runnen. I have moved your question to the Rhino section. I don't use Rhino, but most 3D programs work on basically the same principles and the same techniques apply. To create something like a yo-yo, you would draw half of the profile and then Revolve it 360 degrees around its center point. You can create very complex objects with this very simple technique. Runnen Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 Sorry for sort of resurrecting this post but I am completely new to the program and would like it if someone could give me a step by step way on how to do this? Quote
Raggi_Thor Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 If you google Rhino+Tutorials you find a lot. Here is one example: http://www.vtc.com/products/Rhino-3D-tutorials.htm This tutorial is very close to answering your question: http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/rhinoceros/rhino_ashtray_02.htm Quote
Guest Xenophon Posted December 24, 2008 Posted December 24, 2008 make one curve and revolve around a center axis. Quote
