BillB Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Hi again, Was just wondering if you can manipulate a Autocad Block Reference in any way in Inventor 2009 Pro or 2012 Pro. Was looking to a simple way of converting them to .ipt's. The attached image is in general what I am working with. Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks BillB Quote

BillB Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Hey J.D. Here's the .dwg file for the image, hope this helps. BillB EXH_PLUG.dwg Quote
BillB Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 After trying a few different things, I guess there's really not a way to "Reference Blocks" to make into .ipt's, at least I haven't found it yet BillB Quote
JD Mather Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 Why would anyone create 3D as wireframe? Simply explode the block before importing into Inventor. Quote
BillB Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Hi again J.D.,,,,, thanks for the reply. Yeah, there lies the problem,, this is a machine with several different parts that was designed in Cadkey 3D several years back. I converted over to Autocad to be able to manipulate in some fashion, So now I think that they will want us to build this machine and I was trying different things to save a little time. I will try your suggestion and explode the block before importing. Just wondering,, do you think IV2012 Pro with 2Dto3D Convert would be helpful in this situation? Thanks again J.D. BillB Quote
JD Mather Posted November 30, 2011 Posted November 30, 2011 The version of Inventor is irrelevant. Quote
