Any help willbe greatfully recived. Thanks Quote
ReMark Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Why don't you explain to us how you created your landscape then maybe we'll know better how to advise you. Thanks. Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 adding the file might help!! Quote
ReMark Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Thanks for the "image" but that still leaves my original question. Did you create that with plain AutoCAD or another program? Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Ah sorry, it was just autocad.. Quote
ReMark Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 And just how did you create your landscape? Did you use solids, surfaces, or meshes? Quote
ReMark Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 What smoothness level did you apply to your mesh? Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 unsure, it was drawn over another mesh, by copying parts and stretching them to create what i have got now, so i personally havent put any level of smoothness to it.. is there any way to tell? also thanks for your help so far :0) Quote
Organic Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 It looks like a very specific mesh, did you obtain it from a surveyor initially? Quote
ReMark Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 What are the values for the following system variables? VIEWRES FACETRES SMOOTHMESHMAXLEV SMOOTHMESHMAXFACE Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 yeahinitially, the mesh was given from a surveyor, each polygon is an individual part of the overall mesh and i have manipulated the original. I would like to make it smoother and less complex.. Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 how can i find these.... thanks What are the values for the following system variables? VIEWRES FACETRES SMOOTHMESHMAXLEV SMOOTHMESHMAXFACE Quote

ReMark Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 System variables can be accessed via the command line. Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 i would, but not been given to me directly.. thats the problem really, im a student you see so its come from 'the surveyors' for me to do with what i wish, no contact can be made with them.. Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 Command: FACETRES Enter new value for FACETRES : SMOOTHMESHMAXLEV Enter new value for SMOOTHMESHMAXLEV : Command: SMOOTHMESHMAXFACE Enter new value for SMOOTHMESHMAXFACE : this is what it shows when entered there... Quote
ReMark Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Ranges for these system variable are as follows. VIEWRES = 1-20000 FACETRES = 0.01 - 10 SMOOTHMESHMAXLEV = Default: 4, Range: 1-5, Permissible values 1-255* SMOOTHMESHMAXFACE = 1 - 16,000,000 Initial value: 1,000,000* *Pushing either one of these values above their normal ranges may affect program performance meaning things may get really slow or worst case scenario AutoCAD locks up. Not sure if any of these individually or in combination will do what you want. Use at your own risk. Good luck. Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 thanks, altering those seems to have no effect.. i found this, if i follow this can i bring the file back to autocad? http://www.cadtutor.net/tutorials/bryce/autocad-meshes-to-bryce.php Quote
joeishmather Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 changing those seems to have no effect Quote
