Couple of questions just to clarify...Are the red circles all the same size or different. Can't really tell in that picture.

The loft they ask for with the blue circles...will it include the last red one, or just be added to it like a finial?

If I do a List on the red circles it indicates that they are different sizes.

Hi,

That's great. I wonder how you did it given that the LOFT command was unable to take the polyline each time with a not a valid object ??? the smaller circles at the end is a secondary loft that can easily be done or were you able to do it in one instance ??? Many thanks for taking the time to response. I do understand that the area of the cross sections does not matter especially given that a common center line passes through them through they may be on different planes. Am I correct ???

Regards,

Nicolas.

Is this a school assignment?

I was under the impression that you were supposed to figure out why it can't work and what to do to make it work.

you will need the commands

delobj

move

explode

loft

array

(this would be much easier in a modern 3D CAD program like Autodesk Inventor)

It's so easy even a caveman could do it if he had "a modern 3D CAD program like AutoDesk Inventor."

The pictures I posted was my AutoCAD solution.

In AutoCAD knowledge of these commands will be needed

delobj

move

explode

loft

array

union

nicolas, I can give you step-by-step instructions - but you will need to answer some design intent questions.

In Inventor knowledge of

loft

circular pattern

I didn't see the link to the drawing, thought it was just text.

Experiment 04 Loft and Path 3.jpg

Thanks you very much for the DELOBJ variable. I used to forget this variable and in doing so am losing time to copy faces from 3D object. I have been able to do the LOFT but not in one go, meaning the lofting process not working along the polyline. Actually I have to explode the Polyline and do it one step at a time and then join all the 3D members of one of the branches before doing a polar array. Doing it in Inventor will be with more ease but I wanted to experiment all the 3D options in Autocad before turning to Inventor.
