Nigel Sims
Hi, We are having some issues with title block scaling when importing them from the design centre. Some people have this problem whilst others have had no problem at all or only in the past and this has since stopped. The image above shows an example of the problem. The Layout basically appears 25.4 times larger than the paper itself (the paper is at the bottom left). This would indicate something is wrong with the insertion scale. The drawing containing the title blocks is in millimeters and the drawings which it is being inserted to are in a mixture of millimetres, inches, or unitless. I have checked the insertion scale settings within options and both Source and Target units are set to millimiters for users that have this problem and users that don't. I know a quick fix is to just select that block and scale it by 0.03937 (1/25.4). It's just a bit annoying and frustrating that this only happens to some poeple and not others when the settings for both users is the same. SLW210
What does _INSUNITS =?
Nigel Sims
INSUNITS = 1 I had this problem occur maybe a little over a year ago. It happened in the middle of the day, so it wasn't like I loogged in and the settings had changed. I spent a while trying out different scale settings but came away empty handed. I just worked around it when it happened, which was only a few times. This has since happened to 3 other colleagues; one in particular has this happen alot but sometimes it does randomly work. At the moment he is working around the problem but It would be nice to get to the bottom of the problem.
Nigel Sims
Within the layout are elements which aren't included in the title block; mtext and 2 tables. These also get scaled up with the block itself. Should these get scaled if they are not blocks?
SLW210
How are they being inserted? Did you try _INSUNITS = 0? This is from AutoCAD help... INSUNITSSpecifies a drawing-units value for automatic scaling of blocks, images, or xrefs when inserted or attached to a drawing. INSUNITSDEFSOURCE Sets source content units value when INSUNITS is set to 0. INSUNITSDEFTARGET Sets target drawing units value when INSUNITS is set to 0. Blocks that are placed by dragging from a tool palette must often be rotated or scaled after they are placed. You can use object snaps when dragging blocks from a tool palette; however, grid snap is suppressed during dragging. When a block is dragged from a tool palette into a drawing, it is scaled automatically according to the ratio of units defined in the block and defined in the current drawing. For example, if the current drawing uses meters as its units and a block is defined using centimeters as its units, the ratio of the units is 1 m/100 cm. When the block is dragged into the drawing, it is inserted at 1/100 scale.
Nigel Sims
INSUNITS = 0 Bear in mind that I'm not just dragging in a block; it is a layout from the Design Center. Within this layer are non-block elements (text, tables e.t.c). Should these elements be effected by block scaling variables?
SLW210
When dragging from Design Center, doesn't everything come in as a single block?
Nigel Sims
There is the title block and a few other objects which aren't blocks. These non-block objects do not come in as blocks.
