reganj Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Hello, I am new to Autodesk Inventor and unsure if the following is possible. I would like to design a pipe in the shape of a kudu horn or shofar (see attached). The cross section of this pipe is approximately elliptical/egg shaped and its inner diameter decreases along the longitudinal axis. The pipe is then wrapped around another imaginary cone. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Kindly, Jordan Quote
fuccaro Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 I don't use inventor, if I would have to model it, I would try with AutoCAD+AutoLisp. It is somehow similar with this: http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?17371-Comp5_Fuccaro_3 Quote
Incadnito Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Something like this u mean? Just a quick sketch, can be done more in more sofisticated manner Quote
reganj Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Yes! That is awesome. Thanks so much. Quote
reganj Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 Would you mind sending me that file or is that to much to ask:unsure:? Quote
JD Mather Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 reganj - can you attach the file of what you have attempted so far? Quote
reganj Posted November 9, 2011 Author Posted November 9, 2011 A contributor from the Autodesk forum sent the following attachment to me. I have been playing with it and trying to mimic what he/she has done. I am on a 30 day trial and just learning this program for the first time. kudo horn test.ipt Kindly, Jordan Quote
JD Mather Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 I would not use a 3D sketch for the helix as it is easier to create and edit a Coil Surface to do the same thing. Students can get a free 3-yr license for Inventor from http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity Quote
JD Mather Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 Horn.ipt Here is an alternative to using difficult to control 3D sketch. Quote
Kleiner_Albert Posted January 10, 2013 Posted January 10, 2013 Hi, I am looking for a whorl-pipe, which is egg-shaped an in the form of a kudu horn. Can you please take a look at my picture and tell me if you can build me this one, because i need this pipe design for a little prototyp and they need a 3D-CAD-model. Can you help me please? Greetings from Germany Quote
Kleiner_Albert Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 No, i was a student for engineering studies before 3 years. Now i am a physics lab assistant. A few days ago, i had a nice contact with someone of a prototype manufacturing and they said to me that i just have to give them a cad-model and the construction material and then they sinter my work piece. Since 3 years i reconstruct some gadgets from "Schauberger`s mind" and now it`s time for something bigger. So would you please help me? Greetings from Germany Quote
JD Mather Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Do you have Autodesk Inventor software? Quote
Kleiner_Albert Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 No, unfortunately not. But a friend does have it. Quote
JD Mather Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 ... Now i am a physics lab assistant. Do have an @*.edu email address http://www.autodesk.com/edcommunity Quote
Kleiner_Albert Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 No, but i can give you my normal email address, if this would help you. Quote
JD Mather Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 I'm not interested in your email - if you had edu email you could get Inventor for free from Autodesk student community. Quote
Kleiner_Albert Posted January 16, 2013 Posted January 16, 2013 Do you think that i can register as a student in the community? So then i will register myself now. Quote
Kleiner_Albert Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Could you please tell me if i can do so? Quote
Kleiner_Albert Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Could someone be so nice and would help me here a little bit?! Quote
