golfernut78 Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 i am looking for a sitework rock hatch pattern per the NCS(see attached image), but have not had any luck finding one. i've tried to write the pattern myself, but it's not pretty. any help would be greately appreciated. Quote
ReMark Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 AutoCAD 2008? Check your Express Tools for the SuperHatch command. Quote
golfernut78 Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 i would like a .pat file that can be saved in the acad.pat file for all to use. unfortunately, the express tools are rarely used in our office. Quote
ReMark Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Too bad. The good news is everyone can drop down to AutoCAD LT. Then it looks like you'll have to write your own hatch pattern definition. You have done that before right? Quote
golfernut78 Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 yes, but nothing complex. i tried to write this one and the curve was an absolute fail. i am giving it another shot. i brought up that we need to upgrade autocad. currently we are using autocad architectural 2008, but we don't use the architectural tools (walls, doors, windows, etc...) and everyone looks at me like i am speaking greek when i mention the express tools. i just updated our block library to make many of the blocks dynamic and/or annotative. yeah, that has confused everyone. after thinking about it, i think we are wasting money on anything more than lt in this office, except for maybe one user. ReMark Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 That one user is probably you. So tell the boss you can save him some money by moving everyone to LT and then ask for a raise. Quote
SLW210 Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 There are programs for purchase to create custom .pat files. Quote
golfernut78 Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 yeah, but they seem a bit much for just creating one pattern. Quote
eldon Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 It is difficult to envisage exactly how the hatch would repeat for a larger area. It looks like a wiggly line with a vertical hatch above and a horizontal hatch below. Perhaps you could make the linetype and then use existing hatches. Have you got a screen shot that shows a more extensive area of the desired hatching? Quote
golfernut78 Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 no, the image i have shown is from the national cad standard. i am cleaning up our .pat files (we had over 400, no need for that) and am trying to get it to conform to the national cad standard. i've been working on it for a while now, but can't get the curved line to work. eldon Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 It is just that a hatch pattern like this looks peculiar to me Quote
ReMark Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 That isn't a rock pattern. It is frosting dripping down the side of a cake. Quote
golfernut78 Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 i figured it out with a lot of trial and error and help from the patgen demo now, what do i need this for - i have no idea. Quote
