khoshravan Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 On "TEXTFILL", Help says: Controls the filling of TrueType fonts while plotting and rendering. 0 Displays text as outlines 1 Displays text as filled images Q1) It doesn't affect the text visible onmonitor? Does it? I was expecting to see the result in Print Preview or Print to PDF before plotting to paper but I couldn't. Does it mean there is somthing wrong or still it will be OK if I plot to paper? Q2) It is only for TrueType fonts so it doesn't affect other fonts (what other fonts could be? because all fonts in my ACAD are TT) Quote
ReMark Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 (edited) Q1) My quick test did not show any on-screen difference between TEXTFILL > On and TEXTFILL > Off. Yes, the difference is noticeable in print > preview and in the final output as well. Q2) There are two types of fonts available for use in AutoCAD. They are SHX and TTF. AutoCAD ships with the SHX fonts. The Truetype fonts come standard with your Windows OS. To verify this look in the AutoCAD Fonts folder. Edited October 11, 2011 by ReMark Quote

How do you read it? Do you mean print preview? or print and preview separately? If your test didn't show any difference then how do you concluded the 2nd sentence? Quote
ReMark Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 YES! There is a difference to be seen just prior to printing/plotting if one clicks on the Preview button. I speak of the Preview button in the Plot dialog window. When I click on it I see either filled or non-filled Truetype fonts depending on the setting for TEXTFILL. It is as plain as day. I conclude, in the second sentence, that in my reality (your's may be different) there are two types of fonts that AutoCAD uses. I thought every AutoCAD user knew this. Quote

Yes, the difference is noticeable in print > preview and in the final output as well. 1st and 2nd sentences are shown in 2 different colors above. Explanation on fonts was decent on 2nd paragraph and I didn't mean that. I speak of the Preview button in the Plot dialog window. I conclude, in the second sentence, So you can see the differnce (filled and non-filled) on preview? But I can't Quote
ReMark Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 What would you like me to do about it? Maybe it has something to do with the height of your text. Quote
dbroada Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Maybe it has something to do with the height of your text.It works for me for 1mm Quote
ReMark Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Works for me too no matter what height the text is. Maybe it is has something to do with the particular Truetype font the OP is using. Quote
dbroada Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 could be. I used Arial Bold which is one of the stronger fonts. From my Monotype days I know that TTF and postscript fonts are defined as a mathematical path and can be filled or not. This allows them to be scaled almost infinitely. Maybe the OP is using one that isn't defined correctly. Quote
ReMark Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Well when I have a few minutes I'll time travel to Tabriz, Iran and take a look at the OP's screen. Meanwhile maybe he can tell us what Truetype font he is using. Quote
