I have been playing with a trial version of revit trying to learn and was wondering if anyone here that uses it knows how to achieve something:

If I have a house with a split level, say 3 steps, would you set up your drawing so that the step down is a new level? Or just treat it as 1 level?

Same with a larger job of say 5 townhouses that have different Floor levels due to a sloping site would they all be classed as different floors as the ground floors are on different levels or do you keep them all as ground floors and only true first floors are a different level?

If anyone could help with the correct way of treating levels in this situation it would be appreciated.

you could either a) setup a level for each floor. (which will make your life easier in the long run)

or b) have a gf level and offset the other levels from that height.

remember in Revit, do not be scared of having loads of levels - my default template has circa 16 levels setup for a normal 2 storey building.

welcome to the world of Revit ;)

Why so many levels for a two-storey building?

I would set up a level for each floor. You're life will be much less stressfull later on in the project. A lot of levels is not really a bad thing in Revit. You could always hide the levels you don't want to view in elevations or sections.
