dwg not readable in DraftSight

Hello,

 

me client uses DraftSight and I thought this is dwg compatible, but he can not open my AutoCAD 2010 dwg. I tried AutoCAD 2000 dwg, but he can not open this one, too.

It should be completely compatible. I've used Draftsight myself. Can you post the drawing you are trying to send him?

Yeah, I'd like to see this too. Are you using vanilla AutoCAD or a vertical application?

What is vanilla AutoCAD? I use the test version of AutoCAD 2012 and it isn't expired until now.

I don't know if he gets an error message.

I didn't have a problem with it either. Maybe your friend needs to download the latest version. It is free, and only takes a few minutes.

No problems here either.

 

.dxf is another file extension the AutoCAD will save as.

 

Sounds like to me the person trying to open the file is using something other than a cad program to open this file.
