Bobzy20 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Thanks for the advice. Do you think the ridge of the roof is also a material? See this roofing diagram for the ridge part: (No.3) http://www.sandtoft.co.uk/tiles/technical-support/design-advice/roof-design/ In fact this roof is exactly what I want which includes the valley runs and abutments. Bobzy20 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Also I tried making my roof a 1000 times smaller but I could get it to shell. To make it 1000 times smaller I used (.1000) for the scale, does that look correct? Quote
SEANT Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I notice a fairly large portion of you roof is flat. That typically needs some alternate roofing method (membrane, standing seam, etc. ). Will that be part of the rendering? Quote
Bobzy20 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 You wouldn’t see that part in the rendering. Quote
Bobzy20 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Ok I've tried shelling this roof by scaling it down by a 1000 times in size (using scale factor 0.001) and it doesn't seem to work, can somebody else have a go for me please. Quote
rvpas Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Hi bobzy, Which your working scale is m, cm or mm ? I scaled your roof 1 units = 1m and shell it with 0.20 units thick See my drawing Bye Pascal lRoof-2-rvpas.dwg Quote
Bobzy20 Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 Hi my roof is drawn in mm so what scale factor should i use? Quote
rvpas Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 I meaure a part of eave of the roof and you right it is in mm (6400 units) So if you want to scale your roof in cm just set scale factor 0.1 or 0.001 for m. After shelling your roof you can enlarge again set factor 1000 Quote
Bobzy20 Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 Thanks for the reply. I tried everything and it doesn't work for me at all. Can you please shell 2 roofs for me, one at 25mm and another at 300mm? Thanks Bob Quote
rvpas Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Hi Bob, here is your roof Roof 300-25.dwg Have a good day Pascal Quote
Bobzy20 Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 Thanks, now I need to start adding materials, landscaping and lighting and I don't have a clue what I'm doing! Oh the wonders of 3D visuals. Anybody out there fancy earning some cash teaching me how to create 3D visuals? Quote
ReMark Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I've read that the best way to add materials is to assign them to layers rather than objects. Quote
Bobzy20 Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 Yeah I saw that in a video once, I bet that could save you loads of time of large drawings. Quote
