nestly Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Hah..... I found FixCombos and I've tested it in 2005. I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to try it in 2011 since it stopped being developed ~2006. I think this is probably the same thing that QuikPix does. Quote

nestly Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 After I thought about it a bit, I decided simply loading an ARX shouldn't hurt anything, (fingers crossed) so I tried it in 2011, and it failed. cxfixcombos16.arx is incompatible with this version of AutoCAD. AcRxDynamicLinker failed to load 'c:\autocad2011 support files\lisps\cxfixcombos16.arx' C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2011\acad.exeUnable to load CxFixCombos16.arx file. I don't know anything about programming, but perhaps you can work some magic on the code. http://www.activedwg.com/html/Downloads.php Also FixCombos doesn't just make the layer list wider, it also makes it longer so there's less scrolling. BlackBox Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Sadly, no. There is nothing I can do, given that the file is compiled to ARX (C++). ARX (C++) API Development is version specific (read Version=File format, as I understand it).The 16 in the file name is representative of the version(s) the ARX supports (i.e., R16.0, R16.1, R16.2, etc.). nestly Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Seems like there should be a magic arx update tool Seeing how I'm a dinosaur and all, who loves his Layer and Properties toolbar, I may end up paying the $30 for QuikPiK Quote
BlackBox Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Seems like there should be a magic arx update tool This just in from Autodesk Labs: Wingardium le[t this outdated ARX R16.x filemagically become compatible with R17.* and R18.* versions]a!" Nope, no workie... Maybe in the next AutoCAD version!? Quote
designerstuart Posted August 11, 2011 Author Posted August 11, 2011 thanks for perservering guys..... i tried it too: CxFixCombos15.arx is incompatible with this version of AutoCAD. AcRxDynamicLinker failed to load 'C:\AUTOCAD FILES\CxFixCombos15.arx' C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Architecture 2009\acad.exeUnable to load CxFixCombos15.arx file. Quote
nestly Posted August 11, 2011 Posted August 11, 2011 Someone can update/re-write that ARX for more current versions like the guy that's selling the add-on did. Maybe repost this topic in the NET, ObjectARX, and VBA forum where all the brainiacs hang out. Quote
designerstuart Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 for completeness....... part 2 Quote
designerstuart Posted August 23, 2011 Author Posted August 23, 2011 RenderMan, You may be correct, I don't have 2009 to test, but just to clarify, are you trying to add the Toolbar layer control, or the Ribbon Layer List/dropdown? Demo --> so we have been given an upgrade to 2010 - nestly thanks so much for the vid i followed it and you've sorted it! Quote
nestly Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Glad you found that useful, but I'd rather like to find an answer to your original request because it's much nicer to have a compact layer tool that only expands length when the dropdown list is activated. I'm still holding out hope that those VBA guys will come through. Quote
captainmurdock Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I have joined this forum for the sole purpose of answering your question! In AutoCAD 2015 (I use LT), use the command QUICKCUI, to bring up this menu: The find the Home Layers area under All Customization Files >Ribbon >Home 2d >Home Layers Then click on the Layer dropdown box in the top right Panel Preview to get: And change the minimum width to a higher number- I picked 500! DONE. BOOM. ROASTED. Quote
