7thdarkangel Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 after i upgraded to 2011 there is one feature i cant figure out how to turn on. when the lines from the crosshair over lay another line the slightly change color. how would i turn this on? currently the crosshairs just stay white. heres a picture so you know what im talking about Quote
7thdarkangel Posted July 19, 2011 Author Posted July 19, 2011 fixed it: AutoCAD -> Options -> System -> Performance Settings -> Manual Tune -> Enable Hardwere acceleration : Uncheck Quote
ReMark Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 Now that's what I call being efficient. Ask then answer your own questions. Eliminates a lot of debate too. LOL Quote
SLW210 Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 there is a button in the lower right corner as well. Looks like a computer chip and light bulb. Why do you want hardware acceleration off? Quote

I suspect the OP doesn't "want" hardware acceleration disabled, but that's the only way to make the crosshairs invert colors when crossing over drawing entities. I don't know where the problem stems from, but someone who's writing code isn't properly addressing crosshair behavior with regards to hardware acceleration because hardware acceleration also prevents the crosshairs from automatically inverting colors when moving from the drawing area to the "background" in Paperspace, as well as being responsible for all the "invisible crosshairs" problems/threads when SELECTIONAREA is enabled. SLW210 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 [sARCASM]I am sure Autodesk is hard at work on that problem![/sARCASM] I have all my backgrounds black and a Magenta cross hair, so I don't have to worry with it and keep hardware acceleration. Quote

Using something other than black or white crosshairs probably helps to minimize the problem, but I suspect you'd experience the same issue as the OP if you used a lot of magenta in your drawing. Draw a magenta solid hatch or a dense pattern of magenta objects and move the crosshairs over top. I'll bet you can't see your crosshairs when HWA is enabled, whereas with HWA disabled, the crosshairs will automatically invert colors so they're always visible regardless of the background color(s) Quote
SLW210 Posted July 20, 2011 Posted July 20, 2011 That's why I don't use Magenta for hatches. But that's okay because Autodesk is working hard and fast on this problem. Quote
