Blocks being Re-Defined at Startup!

Hey all, I have an issue where when a drawing file is opened up, (any .dwg file) in AutoCAD Architecture 2008, I have to sit and wait for it to redefine all the blocks in the drawing. Can anyone tell me how to get around this, is there a system variable i can set?
