Good Afternoon, I wonder if anybody can help me.

I have a .txt file wich I need to import.

The file is space / tab delimited.

I get an error when I want to add the file to the source files to import window

The error says:

Error Parsing value in line one.

Value B: Invalid characters found in input string 'B'

The message caries on for each different description in line one.

I don't know what the problem is with the way the file is written.

Can somebody please assist me.

Thanx

I don't know for sure, but I don't think C3D supports alphanumeric point numbers.

Yes rkmcswain is right. You can get rid of it in excel by using the text to columns function and then remove the first column.

Or if you want the character in your point number to display in your drawing you can use HawsEDC Survey Points Import to bring in "points", but they won't be real Civil 3D points. You can still use them to build a surface though by first moving them to the proper elevation (surfaces > utilities > moves blocks to attribute elevation) and then expanding your surface data collection and add them as "drawing objects".

A simple way to edit would be to open in word change " "(spaces) to , ie csv file also if you search replace for B replace with nothing B is gone

Brilliant, Shahram smile.gif

You could also simply ignore the first column, by setting it as "unused":
