Hello, I just started a new job using autocad. I went from sign industry to laser cutting, folding, welding etc. This site has been excellent in getting me familiar with autocad but I'm looking for info on the metals we use. They keep rolling off codes and I'd like to know why one type or another is used. I've searched but the sites tend to be too simple or overly scientific. If someone can direct me to something like a reference guide with the main metal types eg stainless steel, codes eg 316, uses, advantages, disadvantages. And possibly what type of plateing the metals can accept. Something in laymen language with enough detail that I know why to use what when.

Thank You.
