MisterJingles Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Hi all Im working on a reticulation drawing with the site plan XREF'ed in. Can anyone tell me why XREF manager has dozens of unreferenced attachments which I cannot delete. See image. I was working on the drawing this morning and reloaded the XREF without trouble, then I saved the retic drawing as a Rev 3 and now I cannot reload the XREF. Then when Id like to remove and reattach it I cannot find it in XREF manager yet it is still visible on my drawing. Im pulling my hair out here. Any ideas? Quote
RobDraw Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Okay, on your first issue with the extra XREFs, they are probably in the site plan file and either need to be repathed, in the XREF file, or detached. Not being able to reload the XREF can be for a variety of reasons. Look at the message you get when you try to reload. It will probably give you a clue as to what you need to do. Quote
MisterJingles Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Thanks Rob. If I right click on each of those References the only option given is to ATTACH, I cant delete or remove them. What I did with the XREF was DETACH it and then RELOAD it from scratch. The error I was getting was ... "Resolve Xref "WEWE_BASE_PLAN": G:\Wewe\Basemapping Bossie\WEWE_BASE_PLAN.dwg "WEWE_BASE_PLAN.dwg" cannot be found." WEWE_BASE_PLAN.dwg is not my xref. Quote
RobDraw Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 This scenario is just a guess because I don't have the files. First try going to the file that is being XREFd, open it, detach all the XREFs and save. Then open the file getting the XREF. Either you won't see the XREFs that you just detached from the other file or you will now be able to detach them. At this point, I would probably detach the file that is left (the one that you want XREF'd in), purge the drawing, close and re-open and the re-attach your XREF. If that doesn't work, you can try selecting all the XREFs using QSELECT and erase them. You should now be able to detach all the XREFs. Purge and re-attach your XREF. There are more options if these don't work. Quote
MisterJingles Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 I am not able to detach them, as I mentioned if I right click each one the only option it gives me is to attach them. I have also tried purging the XREF. Quote
RobDraw Posted June 13, 2011 Posted June 13, 2011 Are you in your XREF file? There are probably multiple instances of each one of those XREFs that need to be erased. Use QSELECT to erase them and try to detach. If that doesn't work, block that drawing into a clean file. Quote
MisterJingles Posted June 13, 2011 Author Posted June 13, 2011 Yeah there are literally hundreds of these unreferenced things. I think your idea of blocking the drawing in a new file is a good one. Thanks for all the help Rob. Quote
