There are several. Check out Doublecad XT and Draftsight. Both are free, both create dwg files. Both are 2D though. I've used them both, they work very well. You'll have a bit of a learning curve, they don't do things exactly like autocad but there's not a lot of difference.

It worked well for me. Similar to AutoCAD - but of course - not the same.

I would recommend staying away from A9CAD. There are much better free CAD programs available, like the ones Jack O'neill suggested.

I have to agree. A9CAD had a great start but with the arrival of DoubleCAD XT and DraftSight it is old news. Both of these FAR surpass A9 in what they will do and for the price, nothing.

If you need to work with the free edition of SketchUp look at DoubleCAD as it can read and write .skp files. But I prefer DraftSight's interface, personal preference mind you.
