DWG Export to DGN, can't find the seed

Recommended Posts

I haven't had to use the "Export to DGN" function in a while, when at that time the previous computer's user had default and everything set up. Now I'm on AutoCAD 2012 MEP on a new computer and have no clue where to find the Seed files for conversion, nor do I know the common file name or file extension to help the search. Can anyone give me a general location?!? I have Windows 7, if that makes a difference as well. Thanks for your help!

What do you mean by "seed files"? If you want to export your dwg to dgn format, just type EXPORT at the command line and then choose dgn from the file type list.

Or am I misunderstanding the question?

If you look on the lower left corner where it says "Specify Seed File," that is where my issue is coming from. AutoCAD is supposed to come with (4) seed files for Imperial and Metric in V7 and V8 edition conversion from DWG to DGN, but I do not know where they are located in the support files, or documents, etc. nor do I know their names or file extensions for searching. So that's where my power cord is coming a foot short. Any idea of its location or name would be a huge help.

And the seed file is supposedly a translational file for the DGN conversion. That description is the extent of my knowledge on it.

For me they are in the same folder as my template (.dwt) files. C:\Users\murph\AppData\Local\Autodesk\C3D 2011\enu\Template. If you are missing them look in C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2011\UserDataCache\Template.

NOTE: Your path will vary by the product, and the seed files are .dgn files.

This was perfect - using AutoCAD Mechanical 2019 needing to export to Microstation, I couldn't find seed files.  The second c:\ path  you provided guided me right to them.  Thanks for your explanation!  You saved the day.
