Tom Nikitas Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 (edited) Have placed a cylinder on top of a rectangle. E&W/0°,270° are tangent to rectangle's edge(s) .............rectangle extends beyond 6&12. Have radiused the corners of the rectangle but am not making the fillet work at the juncture of the cyl and rectangle. Tried multiple times, doing best to follow commands/requests but no joy. I did on several occasions end up with what I can best describe as the radius running inward toward the cyl's C/L........therefore my "convex" description. The opposite of the desired weld type fillet. What's with the small white sq and the overlayed, larger blue squares? Am working my way thru the tutorials but haven't hit this one yet. Tom Nikitas Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 Extreme regrets Mr Mather, I don't know how to do that..........yet. When I said rectangle, it is an extrusion. I changed my UCS every which way from Sunday in case I was getting hung up there, nada. Quote

CyberAngel Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 If you can't get a fillet to work in a particular location, you may get Circle TTR to work. Start the Circle command, type T, pick two objects, and input your radius. The resulting circle will be tangent to both objects. Assuming that doesn't work, can you at least post a screen shot? In these situations, a picture really is worth a thousand words. Quote

JD Mather Posted May 6, 2011 Posted May 6, 2011 Have placed a cylinder on top of a rectangle. Cylinder and box. Did you Union them before attempting fillet? Quote
Tom Nikitas Posted May 6, 2011 Author Posted May 6, 2011 (edited) "Monission.........??? I must be fried - had the final this week. I failed (in a semi epic manner) to union. My appreciation for all that posted. What is going on is one student, me, with maybe a "B" worth of smarts starting with 3D w/o any prior knowledge of CAD. After having just finished my first class of 3D, looking back, my analogy is that of one trying to do Algebra w/o knowing the times tables and NEVER being given ANY of the times tables to learn while trying to keep the head bone above the murky brine. I'm sure the instructor is/was an absolute whizz in industry (20 yrs experience) but with little to no ability to gear his thinking to a stone beginner, after interviewing the beginner before signing up..........No harm other than a LOT of stress, short days at work (reduced pay check) and a tutor's expense. Kinda grabbing hold of a raging bull and just trying to survive the ride. Some bruises, lotz of dust flew and still scrambling trying to fill in the voids - and there are plenty of them. Working on pedit at this time. Not making much headway yet but have this w/e to try and get that l'il dragon slayed (slew?). Again, my thanks to all. Tom Nikitas Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Ran across this and have started reading it from the git go. I have all summer till the "This is a line" class starts. I may audit the Inventor class the Summer Session, not sure. Being a geezer, I only have to pay fees, NEVER any hourly co$t, audit or ferreal (as the whippersnappers say). What has been the largest stumbling block resulting in the most frustration & stress is to be wading through a drawing and have something of the simplest nature grind me to a halt, either forgetting having seen it once or never having seen it, much less mastered it. Never too late to start right. Hmmm, now have enough posts to look at jobs listed............. I could stand to lose some weight. Relying on my abilities, I'd say that would be a lead pipe cinch. Quote
