jedrafting Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 Lately we have been experiencing wierd lag time when copy pasting linework from one drawing to another in AutoCAD 2008. Sometimes it actually takes several minutes to complete the paste command. I copied the same drawings to my local drive and had the same results. Any ideas? Also tried rebooting with no change. Jack_O'neill Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 I assume you've tried all the obvious stuff but I'll suggest it anyway. Have you purged these drawings? Unreferenced blocks, layers and linetypes can build up after a while especially if you grab an old drawing, modify it to suit your current needs and save it. Any of the stuff that was in the old one stays and anything you add of course is still there. Do that a couple hundred times and the file size gets enormous. You didn't say if you were working on a network, but I assume you are. How long has it been since the server was rebooted? Is it in the same building or somewhere across town or even across the country? Quote
jedrafting Posted February 17, 2011 Author Posted February 17, 2011 Jack, Thanks for your input. I had done multiple purges to try and clean the drawings out in 2008. I opened and purged the drawings with a copy of 2010 Lite that I have on my laptop, which is I found out is more thorough, and it took care of the problem. I believe because we handle drawings and details from around the world, that some corrupt material got into my master detail sheet. There were a zillion viewport scales in the paper space workspace as well. The scalelistedit command wouldn't work. But since I purged them in 2010 all of the errors and pasting problems are gone. Thanks, Joe Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 17, 2011 Posted February 17, 2011 Glad you got it working. Amazing how that stuff will collect. Viewport scales, layer filters, unreferenced blocks, all that will clutter up a drawing. Quote
