Raudel Solis Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 my core i7 720 lagged extremely when working with autocad i recently reinstalled autocad completely and set my computers file paging to NO PAGING FILE SPACE MY PROBLEM SOLVED autocad runs all visual commands smoothly Quote
ReMark Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 No paging file at all? That's really smart of you. I'm kidding of course. Quote
nestly Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I hope you have lots of memory, because as soon as your physical RAM is full, Windows will crash. Quote
ReMark Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I hope you have lots of memory, because as soon as your physical RAM is full, Windows will crash. The OP's system specs indicate 4GB. For someone so smart he can be so not-smart at times. Quote
Raudel Solis Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 i have no issues with ram i can play black ops and autocad simultaneously and autocad orbit is extremely smooth, so hd reads at lets say 80 mb/ps and ram can read at up to 250-300 mb/ps do you see the lag between the access times? i guess thats why it lags :/ oh yeah i think instead of going towards the architecture and engineering field im gonna go to the high performance computing field as an administrator H.P.C Quote
ReMark Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 There is no discernible advantage to eliminating the page file. Quote
Raudel Solis Posted February 13, 2011 Author Posted February 13, 2011 Because RAM memory is a lot more faster than the hard disk, whenever the computer begins to use the Pagefile to relieve memory pressure, we begin to experience a drastic performance degradation. therefore no pagefile space to use will force the computer to utilize the ram that reads faster Quote
Cad64 Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 The computer doesn't start using the pagefile until all the RAM is in use. So if there is no more RAM, and you've eliminated the pagefile, what is your computer going to do? I would think this would cause more problems than it solves. If you're having issues, why don't you just install more RAM? Or are you on a 32 bit system? Quote
Jack_O'neill Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I suspect that the re-install had more to do with it than anything. No page file huh? Interesting. As for your career change...sounds about right. Some days I'm extremely glad I work for myself now. Quote
amarcon Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 You'll probably find ACAD works better when you aren't trying to play games at the same time Quote
