How to make circle perpendicular to line?

Hi, I am trying to make a circle perpendicular (at its midpoint) to the end of a cylindrical helix in 3D space. I tried using the perpendicular geometric constraint but it won't let me (says "invalid selection"...). How can I do this? Is there a way to make the ucs (z axis) tangential to the end of the helix?

If you sweep a circle first you can then use Dynamic UCS to draw your second circle right on the end and perpendicular to the helix. You can also use FACE UCS to change the z axis perpendicular to the end of the helix as well...

If you are using Sweep then you don't have to have the circle in the exact location and orientation, just draw a circle and use sweep.

Couldnt get face ucs to work but I got it with dynamic, thanks. Is there any other way to do it, without having to sweep it first?

rkent, I was a bit unclear in what I am trying to do, I know that will work but I wanted to loft up to the helix smoothly and then sweep the circle along the helix (so it all fits together nicely). Thank you though.
