How to create curves, and half circles?

Hello all, I just started studying AutoCAD 2011 in my Engineering class, and I am using Engineering Graphics with AutoCAD 2011 by James D. Bethune, so for the last couple of day's I've be stuck trying to do both of these exercises, so I am really hoping someone could help me out or give me some tips on how I can do that.

So for this one I am really confused on how to make the arc here, all I have in the book is the radius for both sides, also I've tried using Fillet command for this, but that doesn't work. this one is the one I'd really appreciate tips for.

Now for this one, I've been fiddling around with this, and as you can see the semi circle on the left side, and the right side the smaller one, I am not sure how to make those, I've been thinking of trying to create a circle then divide or just cut it off the other part of the full circle, however I am not sure what is the right way to do this.

I've tried to looking in the book, and unfortunately it is no help.

Hello Mikhail,

Welcome to the forum!

There are many ways that will bring you where you want. To give you an example, and since you use AutoCAD 2011, why not try drawing a rectangle with the command "pline". Just an idea...

When done, you can select the rectangle and see its grips.

The "middle grips"; if you place your mouse on them, you can select the option "convert to arc" . Now enter the radius and see for yourself.

MarcoW

@MarkoW, and Nestly, Thank you guys, that definitely helped me a lot, I believe I'll be sticking around her for a long long time, and I am glad I'll have a chance to learn from all of your experienced AutoCAD users.

Best Regards,

Mikhail

The guy is in R11 Marko. I don't even have those options in 2006. "Middle Grips" must be something new.

Mikhail - when in doubt about an arc, try drawing the whole circle. You can trim it away later.

From your examples it was easy to tell where the center of the circle was and the necessary radius. Throw the whole circle in there then trim away!
