BlackBox
Does anyone know how this feature (add custom paper sizes) can be disabled? Better yet, can someone tell me how to re-enable it!? I am trying to print a long roll to one of our multi-roll printers, and can no longer customize the PC3 file's 'custom paper sizes': Edit: 'Custom Properties' does not provide this missing functionality either. I have full rights to both create/modify PC3 files locally and on the server. We've just undergone a migration to all new systems, and all of our custom paper sizes are missing. In the past, when we get a new printer, etc. I've gone into the PC3 and simply created/modified what we need, saved the PC3 and moved on. Easy. This is really frustrating, and IT has no idea what may have caused this loss of functionality. Edit: This 'loss' applies to everyone enterprise-wide, no less, and not just on my machine. Any help would be most appreciated.
JPlanera
Did you set up the printer as a windows system printer?? THese types of printers can not have custom paper sizes
BlackBox
I assume so, as IT was responsible for the migration, but how can I be sure? Also, to clarify, the default (built-in) custom paper sizes that usually show up with multi-roll printers are present in all but this particular device (HP4500)... all of our HP1055's etc have the custom paper sizes which can be modified via 'Custom Properties' and saved out to individual PC3 files (one for each roll, etc.). As it goes with many others, we had the functionality pre-migration, and lost it post-migration.
JPlanera
Well, if you can not add custom paper sizes, it is safe to assume it has been set up as system printer. In that case, you should be able to make your adjustments via Control Panel in windows....
BlackBox
No luck there either, as both of these are unsuccessful: Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Autodesk Plotter Manager > Plotter Configuration Editor > Device and Document Settings tab Control Panel > Printers and Other Hardware > Printers and Faxes > Properties > Printing Preferences... > Paper/Quality tab Edited January 19, 2011 by BlackBox Typo
JPlanera
As an experiment, in the PLOTTERMANAGER, walk through the add plotter wizard and see if you may be able to add the printer yourself without those information technology know-it-alls!!!! BlackBox
PLOTTERMANAGER opens a Windows Explorer directory, and there is no 'add printer' option to the left side panel, nor from the menu pulldowns. IT says they just copied our previous Printer drivers, and queues, then renamed them. They have no idea why not even an admin can use the grayed out buttons shown in the OP. BlackBox
Thanks for the link, it was informative. I shared it with IT, when my attempts were still unsuccessful... They're looking into it.
