bagulhodoido Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 So, the only way to smooth my renders is by setting the surftabs before drawing? I find that weird, I mean, if you wan't a render with a nice quality you will be dealing with really heavy and slow models. There should be a way to smooth objects without making them complex as a model. Also, surftab can only be set before the model is drawn, so, what if I made this huge model with several details which would make impossible to set the surftab and redraw it all again. Quote
shift1313 Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 facetres and viewres can be set low and will help simplify the viewed model in model space. then you can rotate your model, set these higher and render. Autocad(as far as i know) cant remesh soemthing without starting over so no you cant set surftab values after the model is drawn. Through the properties tab you can close, change m/n density, but the vertex count is not adjustable. You can change the fit/smooth, which is basically the best fit curve(math) that goes into it. You can also use pedit>Smooth surface but i havent found an instant where this was favorable over surtab before model creation. Quote
JD Mather Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Of course all of these questions about revsurf, rulesurf, mesh, surftab1 and surftab2 are all obsolete in AutoCAD 2007 and later. There are are much more powerful and useful surface features in r2007 and later that overcome all of the limitations/problems I see listed in this thread. Quote
bagulhodoido Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 It's brobaly my faul on lacking of knowledge about rendering and stuff (mainly on the configurations), but I rendered a drawing on both, autocad 2008 and 2009, and apparently the final render looked a lot smoother on 09 than on 08. Btw, I loaded the 08 profiles, so it should match the configs. Go figure... It's fun to draw espheres, at least on my taste, all kinds of sizes, and play with materials, and the ambience :D. And the smoother it gets, the better. Quote
