harilalmn Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 HI all, I have a strange issue. I have a hatch Pattern 'DOTS' (A default AutoCAD Pattern) filled in an area in my drawing. The layer is plottable. The pattern is in proper scale (I have attached a screen shot). Now, when I publish a PDF, though it shows up in the preview, it is missing in the pdf. What could be wrong? hazardman Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 have you tried printing the pdf?..just wondering if acrobat is simply having display issues on the monitor but not in print... Quote
SuperCAD Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 What is the lineweight of the hatch pattern? What color is the hatch pattern in, and is your plot setting for that color set to black? Quote
harilalmn Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 Hi all, Thanks for the replies. This pattern is visible when I use the printer "Adobe PDF.pc3" (which is Adobe Professional). But the hatch doesn't show up when I use AutoCAD's default "DWG to PDF.pc3". I want to do the page setup using "DWG to PDF.pc3" because not everyone in office has Adobe Professional installed on their machines. I still don't get what is wrong... Quote
SuperCAD Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 You didn't answer my questions. What is the color and lineweight of the hatch pattern? If the specific color is not set to plot as black it may be plotting as a gray-tone and appearing as a very light shade of gray. If the lineweight is too small then the dots will plot really small and be barely visible. Quote
harilalmn Posted December 24, 2010 Author Posted December 24, 2010 Well... The color of the hatch is red (Set to ByLayer and layer color is Red) and red color is plotting as black according to the ctb used. Lineweight is set to ByLayer and is 0.1 mm. In ctb, Red has the properties set this way; Color : Black Screening : 100 Lineweight : 0.1 Quote
SuperCAD Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Try setting your lineweight to a heavier setting, like 0.18 or 0.25 for the hatch pattern. Quote
droogi Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I am having a similar problem which is odd, because previous to this week the problem didn't exist (currently using ACAD2010).Obviously something within my PC has changed to make it this way however I can not for the life of me find it - and no it is not lineweight settings cuasing this. I did try using my older ACAD versions 2008,2007 to no avail. Maybe I should try rolling back XP updates ... ?My temporary fix is to print through "cutepdf" but using this program doesn't give me the filenames I want so more editing(renaming) is required - it also doesn't record layers in the pdf files.I do recall a similar problem from a few years back where hatches would appear/dissapear within pdf viewers depending on the zoom scale (and likewise wouldn't print depending on zoom level) but that does not appear to be the case here.A perplexed cadmonkey promises to post again if he figures it out Quote
droogi Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 I spoke too quickly ... the hatch is appearing in the PDF file, it is just too fine to see (visible when you zoom in) so this is an Adobe issue, not an ACAD issue. Now to rack my brain and remember the settings fix from last time ... Quote
droogi Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Booyacasha! You may now call me cad ninja ... here is the fix! Quote
