qball Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I've been using Acroplot Pro for the last few years but I want to give DWG to PDF built in driver a try. But I can't figure out how to append to existing file using the Publish Command. It just creates separate files for every layout and I don't get to choose the file location or name. Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 I'm working out of C3D 2011, but I think the procedure is the same... In the publish dialog, go into Publish Options, then make sure "Type" is multi-sheet file. The location is right above that. Quote
qball Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 that didn't work. I know it should, but it didn't. I also tried "Specify Name" instead of "prompt for name". That didn't work either. With Acroplot, this Saveas Dialog box comes up. But not the DWG to PDF. The Publish dialog box appears with the same settings for both Acad and Acroplot drivers. Does that dialog box come up for you when you use DWG to PDF? I wonder if it's something in the pc3 file, though I couldn't see what it might be. Quote
qball Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 PUBLISH is the command that is giving me trouble. with Acroplot: PLOT goes directly to the saveas dialog PUBLISH goes through the publish dialog box, then when you click the Publish button, it goes to the Saveas dialog. It repeatedly goes to the Saveas for every layout where I just double click the file I want to append to (also ensuring that the "Append to Existing PDF" is checked. with DWG to PDF: PLOT goes to Plot Dialog, then "Browse for Plot File" dialog. PUBLISH goes to Publish dialog, then it just creates new individual pdf's, names them after the layout, but gives me no other options. Quote
rkmcswain Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 That is what publish is supposed to do, essentially plot a series of drawings/layouts without any user intervention. You should still be able to control whether or not you get multiple PDF files, or a single, multi-page PDF file. To be honest, it's been a while since I actually used Publish by itself. We almost exclusively publish from Sheet Set Manager, but it should still work the same. Quote
Blam Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Try typing PUBLISHCOLLATE and check to see if it is 1. That will create a single PDF with multiple pages for all the sheets in the publish job. That should be the variable that is controlled in your Publish options for Multi-sheet or single-sheet. But give it a try anyway. Quote
