Bigthunker Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Hi folks, I have spent a fair bit of time setting up layer states for a project to keep all my plan work in the same drawing rather than having 20 different sheets xrefed etc. the reason being that when revisng the the layer states, the changes were not coming through to the sheets when reloading the xref, no matter what i did. So it seemed prudent to have all the information in one drawing set up with layers states and control through the viewports. But, I cannot seem to assign a particular layer state to a one particular tab withoutchanging every tab in the drawing. I have read a fair bit about freezing in view ports, but then whats the point of layer states if they are going to be overwritten with vp freezing?? Does this then mean that in my template file i should actually create the sheets with vp freezing already activated relevant to each plan i.e rcp, drainage, lighting, structural setouts etc. etc. so as not to go through the same process over and over again??? edwinprakoso Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Have you tried to switch layer states using layer states manager? Activate your viewport, type LAYERSTATES then enter to open it. Choose your layer state, then click restore. Quote
lpseifert Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Be sure the system variable Visretain is set to 1, see if that helps. Quote
Bigthunker Posted December 14, 2010 Author Posted December 14, 2010 Thanks mate, Your a life saver. I was manually picking the states in the ribbon! Quote
