kkennedy Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 I feel dumb even asking this question. How do I enable auto stacking from mtext editor when the auto stack button 'a/b' is not available. The button is there but it will not allow me to click it. It highlights the selection automatically but will not allow me to stack the fraction. Using AutoCAD 2000 Quote
ReMark Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 I'm not at my CAD computer at the moment so I may be wrong but try highlighting the fraction and the symbol then right-click. Do you see an option for "Stacked"? Quote
ReMark Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 My neurons are not firing correctly. What if you highlight just the fraction and not the symbol then right-click? Does the word Properties appear on the flyout? Quote
kkennedy Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 Nope. It gives me the same thing as when I highlight the with it. I read some other posts similar to mine and a common theme was the "don't ask me again" option. I'm thinking I may have checked the box some time ago. I would reverse this but I can't seem to be able to locate that option. Quote
ReMark Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 AutoCAD 2000? Yikes. I just check in my version of 2010 and after highlighting the fraction and right-clicking, on the flyout menu I have two choices called Unstack and another called Stack Properties. But you do not see a Stack Properties I take it otherwise we would not be having this conversation. The "don't ask" option. Yes, I know the message. It goes something like this: Don't show this dialog again; always use these settings. Quote
ReMark Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 The furthest back I can go in time is AutoCAD 2004. I found this in the Help file: If you enter numbers separated by stack characters and then enter a nonnumeric character or press SPACEBAR, the AutoStack Properties dialog box is displayed. Quote

kkennedy Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 Thanks for the reference. I have found that it is the font I'm using (city blueprint) that will not let me auto stack. It's weird though cause it will auto stack if I pull a dimension but not when it's in MTEXT. The standard TXT font works with the auto stacking. It is a SHX and the font that I want to use is a TT. Is there anyway to convert from a TT to SHX? Is that the problem? Quote
ReMark Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I think you might be referring to TTF - TryeType Font. Correct? So it is a good news/bad news thing? Good that you know what the problem is and that you indeed have the ability to autostack shx fonts. Bad if you want to use ttf. Is there any way to convert between ttf and shx? I don't believe that is possible but I am not 100% sure. TrueType fonts look fancy but we're creating drawings not designing packaging, advertisements or printing books and magazines. Do you really need to use this ttf within the drawing itself? Fine for a title block and logo but problematic in your case for stacking fractions. Quote
