and they took no time at all to render either.

I use 07 at work currently and i think the user interface for the rendering in 09 is a little more friendly. but like i said i havent played with rendering much.

is it really worth buying(2009)? i really want to improve my 3d in CAD cause it's one of the major advantage in my work, thanks in advance

At first i wasnt keen on the user interface but after a few hours i really like how its setup with the steering wheel and the way everything works. It does take a bit of getting used to.

I did see a website advertising acad08 for $400, not sure how legit that was:)

what kind of work do you do? what are you looking to get from this? I think you can produce very good renders in 07 but there needs to be more knowledge there. I feel like 09 compensates a little bit and gives the user more choices, rather than having to decide blind. if that made any sense. They did add a lot of features to 08 that 07 doesnt have in terms of controls. I think the biggest time saver would be the preview materials swatch in the materials panel. You can adjust materials and get a real view of what they will look like rather than rendering to find out.

Im an interior designer, i do layouts & 3D presentations, i do spot perspectives & 3D plans(3D version of the whole layout), being be able to produce good 3D(as realistic as it can be) would be a big advantage.

I know that 3D studio max can do better 3D but im not familiar with 3D max & the only 3D program that i know is from autocad that's why im trying to improve my capability in autocad & that also includes better software.

well i dont believe going to 09 from 07 will make you a better cad designer. The drawing utilities are mostly the same(i dont think they added much in that dept). the user interface has changed and rendering interface(as well as the render engine). I would download the 30day trial from the autodesk site and see for yourself. Thats why i downloaded it to see if it was worth the upgrade at work.

thank you for the comments & suggestions, i don't have much time to download the free trial. i just want to see more 3D from 2009, & i'll try to obtain a full version if im satisfied with it, and thanks again.
