bbankston Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 (edited) In the Properties Pallete using a dimension I'd like to text override it with text on the top and bottom. Like say I've got an opening of 36 inches, I'd like the dimensions to read: RO I've seen it done before but I forget how. Note: The "RO" should be centered directly under the "36" Edited November 29, 2010 by bbankston RO should be under 36 Quote
ReMark Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Type the following for your dimension text: 36\XRO The 36 and the RO will be centered one above the other. Quote
bbankston Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 That's what I thought, ReMark. But it don't work. See screenshot. Quote
bbankston Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 Nevermind. I didn't see the X before. It works. Thanks, man. Quote
ReMark Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 And you doubted me because you thought I hadn't tried it out myself first? Oh ye of little faith. No more answers for you! LOL Quote
ReMark Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 You're forgiven. Just don't let it happen again. Quote
eldon Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 If you don't want to over-ride the dimension but just add text, enter it thusly "\XRO" Quote
bbankston Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 That would have been next question. Thank you, eldon. Quote
designerstuart Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 just out of interest, can you do this using the ED command? Quote
ReMark Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 just out of interest, can you do this using the ED command? Yes, you can. Quote
bbankston Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 Interesting, designerstuart. Hey, ReMark, did you know that if you use P instead of X it puts your characters above the dim line? Quote
ReMark Posted November 29, 2010 Posted November 29, 2010 Only vaguely. Seems we had a question about someone who couldn't get his dimension text to appear above the line for some reason and I think the \P option was mentioned by another forum member. It's been a while so I don't rightly recall all the details. It's a good point though and I am glad that you thought to mention it. Thanks. Quote
bbankston Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 I just ran through the alphabet of different formulas (ain't much goin' on at work). Should this be posted in the Tips and Tricks section now? Quote
bbankston Posted November 29, 2010 Author Posted November 29, 2010 It looks as though P and N do the same thing but are way different than X if you'll note the extreme amount of line spacing (leading). W on the other hand seems useless as it just crazily condenses the font. Quote
designerstuart Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 wicked that is awesome thanks bb Quote
bbankston Posted December 1, 2010 Author Posted December 1, 2010 I'm glad somebody digs it, designerstuart. Quote
Ollie8974 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Knocking the dust off of this one, Thanks bbankston. This is exactly what I was looking for Quote
ReMark Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Just when I thought I had seen the last of bbankston's scary face and you have to go and bring it back to life! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Quote
Ollie8974 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Did some more experimenting. Trying different letters. found that \A will return the same as \L With out the underscore. Quote
