Is it possible to scale a hatch along a single axis. I'm doing some elevations with varying roof pitches and I would like the hatches to reflect that. The steeper the pitch the more of the shingle you would see. Using a block doesn't really work because it messes up the hatch boundary. Any suggestions? Thanks.

A possible starting point would be to hatch a rectangle and then Rotate3D.

It might give you some ideas

eldon, yeah, that method is alright for a simple roof but it becomes tedious real quick with more complicated roof lines. I've used it before but it was only for simple rectangular roofs like you've shown. Thanks for the suggestion, but there must be an easier way. I've seen this done on numerous elevations so if you're out there please tell me the secret!

eldon, the problem I'm having is when I rotate the hatch it is no longer the same shape as the boundary. Like in your first post; the height gets shorter as you rotate it, so I have to take into account how much I am rotating it and resize the hatch accordingly. Hope this makes sense.

But in my previous post, I resized the boundary to change the shape.

If you set up a new UCS based on three points on the rectangle of the rotated hatch, then Pedit works and you can make the shape that you want by inserting points. The hatch then adjusts to the new shape.

I said that the rectangle was a starting point.

If you have drawn say all 4 elevations then you can work out the length of the roof, draw this flat then rotate3D to correct angle. Even draw lines to pitch angle and intersect plan distance then length is worked out.

I have advantage my houses are full 3d so would set ucs to roof plane and hatch then any plot direction would reflect hatch pattern.

@eldon and BIGAL, Great suggestions, but I guess I was hoping for a simple way to do this without having to go 3d.
