Cu Buff 4Runner Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Newbee here, but long time AutoCAD user... I recently got a new work computer with windows 7. Unfortunately our office is still using AutoCAD 2005 and won't upgrade. So far I have got most of the bugs worked out with the exception of the layer manager. The manager seems to have a mind of its own with regards to linetypes and colors. Some layers I can change the color some I can't and the same goes with linetypes. I can't find any rhyme or reason to the selection of what layers cause issues. I have a lisp to change the color by selecting an object on that layer & changing it through model space and it works fine, but it would be nice to have my manger back. Any thoughts? Thanks Quote
CJJ Posted November 24, 2010 Posted November 24, 2010 Have you tried running AutoCAD in compatibility mode? (That comes with Pro and Ultimate editions, it's basically a virtual machine of Windows XP that you can use to run older applications, if they won't work under normal Win7) http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/features/windows-xp-mode.aspx Quote

I downloaded the xp virtual mode, but I don't like the memory allocation and having to reinstall the software. I think I would rather deal with windows 7 and use lisps instead of the manager to change layer properties. Quote
