about contours in civil 3d

hey everyone,

 

i am using civil 3d 2010 and i want to create contours in my drawing but i am unable to create. contours were created once by cghance but these were not accurate so please help me for this I am getting mad for thiso:)

Hi Lokinderr and welcome to the forum. Please do not post your question in multiple locations. I have also moved your question to the Civil 3D forum, hope you find some help here.

 

About your question, I don't use Civil 3D myself but your question sounds a bit vague, can you tell us more about what you have tried and what has gone wrong?

Have you done the Tutorials yet? There's some that go through building a Surface, step by step.

Contours are a representation of a surface. Just like triangles or slope banding, etc.

Do you have a surface?

If so, select it in the prospector or in the drawing, then go to Surface Properties.

On the Information tab of the dialog that appears, go down to Surface Style.

Select the one you want to use. If there isn't one that displays contours like you wish then... Edit the surface style, where you can set the contour interval, turn on or off the various components of the surface and set their color/linetype.

 

If you do not have a surface built yet, you will have to do that first. Check out the tutorials, books, white papers, etc. for help on that.

i have create the surface but dosnt shows contours even i have changed the style and settings in the toolbar can you please tell me all the steps to create contours in proper shape and position

Try closing Civil 3D completely and save your drawing. Then re-open Civil 3D and your drawing.

The steps are here. Some more possibilities......... Maybe the contour interval is greater than the elevation difference in your surface. Maybe your surface has no elevations (at zero?). Maybe the layer that the contours are assigned to is frozen or off. Maybe the color of the contour layer is a truecolor that is the same as your background color.

 

If you still can't figure it out, erase everything except the surface, save the drawing and zip it up and post it.

Hover the crosshairs over your survey model it should dispaly a box which has surface name and elevation if all elevations are the same or zero then you will not see contours.

 

Do any of the styles you have work ?
