wrmurphy81 Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Someone sent me some LiDAR data and I am trying to import it into c3d. The file typse says its an "AutoCad Layer State" and I tried to import the layer state but it says, "The selected layer states could not be restored". Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Quote
sinc Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 Sounds like a mixup with extensions. Autodesk has used .LAS extensions for Layer States for years. But now we are also getting .LAS files that contain Lidar data. C3D 2010 has limited support for working with Point Clouds, which you can get by downloading the Subscription Advantage Pack. It's not incredibly useful, though - more a preview of the feature in C3D 2011 (which is still quite limited, compared to other tools, but better than the 2010 SAP). There's also some capabilities for working with Point Clouds in Map, but I think that might have been added in 2011 as well. I've heard of people using tricks like attaching the data as a Point File to a C3D surface, etc., but haven't tried doing any of that stuff myself. Quote
wrmurphy81 Posted October 28, 2010 Author Posted October 28, 2010 Sinc, Thanks again! We ended up buying a seat of 2011 and importing the lidar data was a piece of cake. Quote
